Snaking a drain is the most common way to remove a clog. When a drain backs up it should be snaked right away to prevent water damage and the possibility of mold developing. It is a process that generally takes about an hour and shouldn't damage a drain line. Any size drain can be snaked through the drain it’s self or a cleanout. I have several machines, designed for different drain problems, from tree roots in the sewer to a sock stuck in a toilet. Don’t worry I have seen it all!
